‘My Brothers and Sisters in the North’ (UK Premiere) screening at Bertha DocHouse
The Bertha DocHouse Screen Curzon Bloomsbury The Brunswick, London, WC1N 1AW
The UK Premiere Sung-Hyung Cho’s ‘My Brothers and Sisters in the North’, now screening exclusively at Bertha DocHouse. As first South Korean filmmaker to cross the border to North Korea, she renounced her citizenship in order to gain access as a German national. Setting aside her pre-conceptions of her neighbours in the North, she explores the reality of daily life under the totalitarian regime. (Please note: the film is mix of Korean and German, subtitled in English.) Accompanying ordinary people in their life and work routines, Sung-Hyung Cho learns, in the process, about their hopes and dreams for the nation.
