Angel Classics celebrates the Bicentenary of the birth of Theodor Storm, one of the most deeply affecting of German writers, with the first modern English translation of one of his finest novellas, Grieshuus: The Chronicle of a Family, which spans several generations during the devastating Northern Wars of the 17th and 18th centuries.
Storm’s classic novellas of small-town burgher life in the North Sea coastal region of northern Germany, set both in his own 19th-century period of rapid change and in earlier times, often attain tragic status. Grieshuus, a Cain and Abel story of enmity between two brothers, moving through several generations towards final catharsis, is the latest volume in Denis Jackson’s series of pioneering new translations.
This event is rescheduled from 26th October. We hope to see you!
